Most cosmetic surgeries can safely be done in an office-based operating room as an outpatient procedure. Here are some of the answers to the most frequently asked questions by our patients.

Certifications

Our office operating room is accredited by The American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF)

Dr. Derby and Dr. Chang are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc. (ABPS)

Appointments & Scheduling

The scheduling secretary can be reached from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. She will assist you in arranging your visit with the surgeon. Most cosmetic consultations are complimentary for the initial visit. They can be scheduled during the week, and occasionally on Saturday mornings when available.  All other consultations require referrals by your PCP (primary care physician) or referring physician.

Postop & Recovery

For the convenience of our cosmetic out-of-town patients, we pay for accommodations at a local hotel close to our office for the night after surgery. Time off from work largely depends on your chosen procedure and your job duties. All patients need to take off a minimum of two days from work, but commonly 1-2 weeks off are needed, particularly due to swelling, bruising, and pain control. There are some restrictions, which are discussed at the initial consultation, but most are lifted after approximately 2 weeks. (Please refer to the ASPS links listed in the “Available Procedures” section for more specific information.)

Allergan’s Breast Implant Limited Warranty

Financing

While estimated costs can be given for some cosmetic procedures, a more exact quote will be provided for you at the time of your office consultation to include surgeon’s fee, operating room and anesthesia. Quotes cannot be given for hospital or other charges outside of our office. Cosmetic surgery is not covered under insurance programs and prepayment is required two weeks before surgery. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and Discover Card for pre-payment of these procedures. Also available is the ASPS endorsed financing through CareCredit. They will be able to  discuss their creditline application, estimated monthly payments and APR.

Privacy Policies:

Before-and-after photos of our patients can be viewed during private consultation. (To protect their privacy, we do not post our patients’ photos on the internet, and we obtain written permission before showing them even in private consultation.)
